Shank: This is the structural component that connects the socket to the prosthetic foot. It can be either an endoskeletal (with an inner support structure and cosmetic cover) or an exoskeletal (with a hard outer shell) design.
Suspension System: This system keeps the prosthesis securely attached to the residual limb. Common methods include suction, pin-locking, vacuum, and straps or sleeves.
Prosthetic Knee (if applicable): In cases where some knee function is needed, a prosthetic knee joint may be included, especially for those with higher-level amputations.
Prosthetic Foot: The foot component can vary widely based on the user’s needs. Options range from basic, non-articulated feet to advanced, dynamic response feet that mimic natural foot movements.
